Applying cultural responsiveness
Engage in activities to develop cultural responsiveness as it pertains to sexual violence prevention and response. Apply culturally responsive practices in these areas.
Cultural responsiveness includes learning about practices most likely to be experienced as helpful by students of diverse cultural communities, including members of the LGBTQ+ community. Cultural responsiveness in the context of SV/SA policies involves being mindful of how students from different cultural communities may think about sexual violence itself and about the possibility of talking about sexual violence or seeking support. Not only may students from different cultures think differently about sexual violence, they may face distinct sets of material and inter-personal factors when considering whether and how to seek support.
