In 2019 Abimbola Shoboiki obtained her MA in Women and Gender Studies at Mount Saint Vincent University, with the thesis "Mothers, daughters and Othermothers: the significance of storytelling in shaping my identity as a Black woman.
Her research interests lie in the area of Africentric Research, violence against women, Black feminist studies, Black women's narratives, Black women writers, memoir writing and autobiographies.
During her graduate studies, she worked as a graduate research assistant on the CAPSAP project. This project explores the cultural and gendered influences that shape how the revised sexual assault policy will be accepted by international students and Canadian students on campus.
She also presented a paper in collaboration with Dr. Susie Brigham on the progress of the CAPSAP research project, acquired data and future plans based on the result of the project at the Association of Nova Scotia University Teachers Conference (ANSUT).
