I doesn’t stop with reporting

I have one more thing. If you are talking about violence policy, I don’t think it just ends with reporting. How you take that forward, how well you gave support to the victim and, you know, even the person who is harassing - the person who committed the assault. What I feel is that maybe how he is being treated, like, all those things should be covered here; and It doesn’t stop with reporting alone.

Recommendations

  • Provide long-term support to victims/survivors through university services and/or through referals to external community-based agencies.

  • Address respondent rights and supports available to respondents in each of the following circumstances: 1) the investigation into the complaint is ongoing 2) the investigation concludes that the respondent has violated the policy, or 3) the investigation does not conclude that the respondent has violated the policy.

  • Provide detail and clarity about what happens, and who helps the students involved, at every stage of the process following a disclosure or report.
