Engaging diverse student leaders in policy review
Engage with student leaders from diverse cultural backgrounds and genders when revising policy content and associated services. Ensure the concerns raised by these students are foregrounded in policy development and application.
When it comes to consulting with or otherwise involving students in their university SA/SV policies or services, there is often a small core of students who can be counted on to appear. That group of students may be culturally homogenous rather than representing the diverse perspectives that make up the university community. The peer-facilitated focus group methodology used in the CAPSAP study is an example of a an approach that successfully engages students from a range of cultural communities in discussing and evaluating their university sexual assault policies.
