Providing access to service providers of diverse genders.
When responding to a disclosure or report of sexual violence, provide students with the choice to work with someone who shares their gender identity or someone who does not. This applies to the victim/survivor or complainant and respondent.
Fully implementing this recommendation requires that university-based support services include staff who identify as male, female, and transgender, non-binary, or two-spirit. As an alternative universities may formalize relationships with service providers of any genders not represented among university staff from whom students may receive supports free of charge.
