Providing accounts of how the policy works

Offer fictionalized but representative examples of how disclosures and reports to the university have been handled.

We heard from students that they would be more likely to seek supports if there were opportunities to hear about whether and how their university SV/SA policy had helped others. However, it is not possible to share actual stories about how a given policy has worked without betraying the confidentiality of those involved. Providing fictionalized examples would give a sense of how the policies work without identifying actual students. We emphasize that any such fictionalized examples must accurately reflect what students reporting or disclosing sexual assault can expect from their universities rather than skimming over barriers, disappointments, or limitations associated with the in stitution’s responses to sexual violence.
