Providing information about interim measures

Identify potential interim measures, provide an indication of how these measures are selected and implemented and establish a reasonable timeframe for implementation.

The availability of interim measures was important to students who participated in this study. We heard particular concern that victims/survivors would find themselves in situations where they would have to share space with perpetrators. Participants wanted to know how interim measures would protect them from this eventuality. Students wondered what process would be used to decide on the measures that would be put in place. Who makes these decisions? Are particular interim measures standard in particular circumstances? Are interim measures selected in consultation with the victim/survivor? Providing more information in these areas would help students decide whether seeking SV/SA supports is likely to be helpful or harmful in their particular circumstances.
