Acts of sexual violence can be acts of systemic oppression
CBU is very diverse community that we have a large number of international students here. [...] This university should understand, there is a fact that each person's experience will be affected by many factors including, you know, their sex, their - their race, language, ability, age, or even gender identity. And I think sometime the sexual assault or sexual violence must be acknowledged that acts of sexual violence can also be acts of, like, the systematic oppression, including sexism, racism, sometimes the homophobia or transphobia. So I think the policy needs to include them all, or needs to take all the facts into consideration. Yeah, thank you.

Consider how a student's identities might affect their expectations and concerns when accessing supports following a sexual assault, or when involved in a sexual assault investigation.

Ensure all sexual violence prevention and response education and training opportunities actively deconstruct victim-blaming, rape myths and gender norms. Ensure these sessions take an intersectional approach to understanding sexual violence and supporting victim/survivors.
