Empathy and active listening

Empathy and active listening are good characteristics' for them [supporters]. Also, just being aware in that moment; be able to read body language. I am a very physical person. I communicate through touch as well, but, in that kind of situation, you need to be aware of the person's need for space and whether they are okay with touching. You know, some people like to be comforted with a hug, some people need space. [...] You need to understand that even a touch on their arms may be too much at that moment.
