Asian Female

Southeast Asians, they may hide their feelings

I think the security staff and human rights officer should have sympathy, because Southeast Asians, they may hide their feelings. They want to hide their feelings and sometimes they are not ready to show them the problem, because - especially related to the sexual harassment or violence. So, That’s why they have to be more patient and they have to discuss with people like us. And [they should] find more information to study more about our cultures [unclear] to learn more about us that before dealing with Southeast Asia. Yeah, that's my point.

Recommendations

  • Use open-ended questions and collaborative communication when supporting a victim/survivor.

  • Consider how a student's identities might affect their expectations and concerns when accessing supports following a sexual assault, or when involved in a sexual assault investigation.
