The policy is really good for the newbies

I know sexual assault can happen at any age, but from my own experience, I feel like when - the first year of university you get caught up in the fun of party that mostly contains, like, alcohol and drugs, sometimes. So I feel like it [the policy] is really good for those newbies who come into the school -100% needed.

Recommendations

  • Create and promote avenues for comprehensive sex education.

  • Including male students across cultures in discussions of sexual violence, gender stereotypes, and stereotypes of masculinity.

  • Ensure all sexual violence prevention and response education and training opportunities actively deconstruct victim-blaming, rape myths and gender norms. Ensure these sessions take an intersectional approach to understanding sexual violence and supporting victim/survivors.

  • Provide clarity about any situations where issues related to sexual violence or harassment, whether online or in-person, would fall under other university policies.
