There is a minority that is very vulnerable

I know some people are aware. Like, for example, here in Canada, we are taught and we can read about it [the policy], but since we are such an international community and we all have different cultures and we are not the same ages, there can be a very different range in classes. So, some people may be informed, but there is a minority that is very vulnerable. As participant 4 said, it should be included on the syllabus or also for the students in residence. The RAs could also mention sexual violence policies and the consequences.

Recommendations

  • Engage in activities to develop cultural responsiveness as it pertains to sexual violence prevention and response. Apply culturally responsive practices in these areas.

  • Use multiple formats to deliver accessible education about the SV/SA policy during orientation and at least once per semester
