Participant 1: It would make a world of difference for a lot of people to hear, "I support whatever choice you make; these are your choices, it's okay to do that." Not, "you should," necessarily, but "it's okay to make that choice if that's what you want." I would love to see that tone come through in this policy.
Participant 2: Yeah, that validation is really important.

Emphasize the victim's right to decide whether they would like to report the incident after they have disclosed it to the university. Ensure the victim is aware of the formal and informal routes for reporting, including the option of reporting to the police. Clearly communicate any limits to confidentiality.
