Trans-inclusive but not hard to read

[While ensuring the policy reads as trans-inclusive], you’d also have to make sure to not go overly into [...] describing things and making it hard to read at the same time. [...] Like, maybe you just need like a – like [inhale] the voice of someone who’s - who’s trans or – or – or gay or any [laughing] LGBT+ to like uh - [inhale] um, I don’t know, make sure that it sounds [pause] like what they’re reading could apply to them.

Recommendations

  • Engage with student leaders from diverse cultural backgrounds and genders when revising policy content and associated services. Ensure the concerns raised by these students are foregrounded in policy development and application.
