Why doesn’t he policy touch on false allegations?
I’d like to know why it [the policy] doesn’t touch on false allegations or whatever. As we mentioned previously, our demographic more typically is um, being a respondent role. So, as a personal fear, I’m more afraid of being falsely - like having false allegation against me than actually um, being harassed, you know. And that leads to the culture of the way men feel - you know, about harassment - versus women. "It’s not a big deal” versus women, it’s like “No, that’s not OK.” You know? /but that’s not really talked about whatsoever in the policy.
Recommendations
-
Address concern around wrongful accusations while developing new policies or training materials.
-
Address respondent rights and supports available to respondents in each of the following circumstances: 1) the investigation into the complaint is ongoing 2) the investigation concludes that the respondent has violated the policy, or 3) the investigation does not conclude that the respondent has violated the policy.
