Meltem Cana Etiz

Facilitator Research Assistant

Mel is a Psychology and Creative Writing student in her final year at Saint Mary’s University getting ready to graduate in the Spring of 2021. She is currently employed as an Opinion Contributor for the SMU Journal, where she writes topical essays on feminism, global politics and young adult culture.

Alongside her non-fiction pieces, she has self-published two poetry chapbooks addressing the blessings and pitfalls of the human condition in secular and spiritual contexts. Her work for the Culture and Perspectives on a Sexual Assault Policy as a research assistant and moderator for the female-identifying 'Turkey and Middle East' focus group was successful in generating a multi-cultural discussion regarding gender based sexual violence. She will continue to pursue knowledge and wisdom on matters concerning human rights and personal interest.
