Universities discourage outside support
When a student discloses or reports, there needs to be something there that people can point to, or students can say, "on the website is... " but in particular, staff or faculty can say, "here are your options." From what I've been involved with across Canada and at other universities, I'm hearing that universities tend to discourage involving outside support. Sometimes it's gentle discouragement. So I firmly would love to see [pointing to imaginary form] "here is how you can report to the university, but you can also go here and you might report to the police, and here is how you do it, here is the number."
Recommendations

Offer information about university responses to sexual assault allegations against faculty members, as provided for by faculty collective agreements.
-
Identify how long reports are kept on file and the process involved if/when responding to a report concerning a previously accused respondent.
