How long after the incident can you report?

How long after the incident are you allowed to report? Like, is there a timeframe that you have to report by? Or, let’s say that it happened months ago, can I still report it, or would it have passed the timeframe? [...] I feel it's relevant because a lot of people are unable to talk about things in the moment. So it would be very difficult for them to, let’s say, go on to report the next day or even to report the week after because if it was a traumatic situation, it would take them some time.

Recommendations

  • Allow victim/survivors to share their experiences and seek support when they are ready. Offer information about time limits for reporting when applicable.
