I don’t have the experience

[A friend who discloses sexual assault] could be feeling very unsure at the moment, and they also don’t know what to say at the moment. And since this is sudden -. I also don’t think we are professionals. [...] I don’t think I have the experience to deal with the matter and everything. It might trigger them with some stuff that we might that we might say or whatever.

Recommendations

  • Present learning materials in a way that is helpful to a friend supporting a victim/survivor.

  • Make supports available to members of the university community who receive disclosures, or raise awareness of these supports within university communities where they already exist.
