If people aren’t aware the policy works, there is no point

Participant 1: I wanted to know how many cases have been reported through this channel, and how did they go?
Participant 2: Yeah! I think I am quite curious to know too. [...] I know that’s not something that is about to be revealed, but then some cases can include victims that serve as examples for how well they have been treated, or how well they have been supported, or how this policy supported them to come out of it. I think that would be a big confidence boost for people to come and report. [unclear] Eventually, if people are not aware that the policy works, then there is no point in having it.

Recommendations

  • Offer fictionalized but representative examples of how disclosures and reports to the university have been handled.

  • Provide detail and clarity about what happens, and who helps the students involved, at every stage of the process following a disclosure or report.
