Caucasian Male

It’s recorded and it speaks to a pattern

Having it [the report of sexual assault] on file is useful, because it speaks to a, pattern - history. If, like you said, someone might be nervous, but maybe that individual, you know, does something again and someone else decides to take action, then you change your mind, like you mentioned, and go, “OK. I’m gonna come forward now as well”. You know, that is recorded and it speaks to a pattern.

Recommendations

  • Provide clarity about any situations where issues related to sexual violence or harassment, whether online or in-person, would fall under other university policies.

  • Engage external investigators to adjudicate all sexual assault cases. Describe the process by which investigators are selected within the policy. Communicate this process to complainants and respondents.

  • Outline the policy review process and timeline within the policy and educational materials.
