Take into account what they want to do

I mean, when it comes to giving someone advice, you can give them advice, but most of the time, you just need to be someone to listen. If you’re giving suggestions, you can’t be insistent. You have to take into account what they want to do, because they need to be empowered to make their own decisions.[...] To force them to report something when they don’t particularly want to, that’s not helping them - that’s just making them possibly have to confide in more people, resulting in more re-victimization, which is not going to help that individual.
