Facilitator: Also, do you guys feel like it should be mandatory for the offender to go to a number of counselling sessions along with action being taken for it?
Participant 1: Mhm.
Participant 2: Yeah, because something isn't right in his head. [...] Jail time and counselling sessions, yes.
Participant 3: He can get the counselling sessions from in jail
[laughs]. Yeah, they have churches in there too - he can go visit the church.
Facilitator: Repent!

Recommendations

  • Provide services through the university itself and/or external services that meet the religious or spiritual needs of the victim/survivor and/or respondent.

  • Describe possible legal and institutional consequences for respondents found to have engaged in sexual violence. Provide indication of the range of consequences likely to follow a range of policy violations.
