What’s the measuring stick for the outcome?
Does the victim have any word or say? Is there, like, different levels of sexual violence to somewhat determine the consequences? Because the policy currently states that the consequences may include but are not limited to, for example – a written warning [...] or a change of job, or a change of class. Like, who makes the decision as to what happens? And, what's the measuring stick for the outcome?
Recommendations
-
Identify potential interim measures, provide an indication of how these measures are selected and implemented and establish a reasonable timeframe for implementation.
-
Be aware of damaging assumptions about Black and Middle Eastern male sexuality; consider problematizing this form of bias in education and awareness campaigns. In working with students from these demographics in relation to a disclosure or report, demonstrate awareness that such biases exist, and demonstrate intention not to be swayed by such assumptions.
