With my mom and dad there is a disconnect

I think with both my mom and dad there is a disconnect in their understanding of sexual assault. You know, when there is cases and stuff like that on TV, you know, they say stuff like, "Oh, she’s fibbing," and, "She needs to get over it," and putting the blame back on females. So, I think that there would be some conflicting feelings about this [the policy] because they would feel that um that people would be more apt to cry wolf.

Recommendations

  • Ensure all sexual violence prevention and response education and training opportunities actively deconstruct victim-blaming, rape myths and gender norms. Ensure these sessions take an intersectional approach to understanding sexual violence and supporting victim/survivors.
